Hey Wasters! 

As expected, November was a slow month for any major Torque Borg progress. I did manage to tweak a few spreads, start some art for a few more spreads, do some editing, and have a single in-person playtest session. 

Torque Borg did exceedingly well. It went so far beyond my expectations, It quickly became evident I had to change my short term goals and tasks to handle its success, which has eaten up most of my November time - that and the US holiday. My goal last month was establishing a "real" business to handle the finances and expenses that come with this scale of manufacturing and fulfillment. As a lifelong freelancer/contractor I've always operated as an independent proprietorship, but with the added tax burden of the project it makes more sense to establish an LLC for a variety of very boring tax and accounting reasons. 

I'll reveal the company name at a later date when I've had the chance to make a logo (and hopefully a website!). As of today the ink is dry and the company is officially registered! 

Pledge Manager

Establishing a company had the unfortunate knock-on effect of delaying my release of the Pledge Manager, so I could submit the proper business credentials. As of this evening I have finally put a bow on the Backerkit Pledge Manager, and submitted it for review - if all goes well, the next few days will see it approved and the smoke screen test go out for a small number of backers (5% of all backers in each pledge level) to catch any mistakes or errors. 

Unfortunately, I still have to dump more hours into setting up new accounts, organization, meetings with the CPA, etc. Likely I won’t get to make any fun and meaningful progress until the close of the year.

🔥Torque Borg wrapped the campaign at $82,805 and 1,220 backers! Incredible!🔥

When I set out to bring Torque Borg from my table to yours, I had no idea it would get this big. I was hoping to get a hundred or so copies made, mostly to give to friends and families and have something fun to show off, but this has completely exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Please accept my most humble of thanks.

What's next? 

I'm going to finish out the week catching my breath after that final sprint to the finish line and hit the ground running next week. 

I plan on giving a monthly update (most likely the first week of each month) to keep you all up to speed on what's going on. Some months are likely to be slower than others with the holidays coming up, but I will both update you here, and on the Torque Borg Discord! So, what's next? 

  • Stage 1, Unlocks: I'll start off next week by really digging into the full development of the stretch goal unlocks (mutations, new classes, new enemies). Fleshing them out from their current rough state into something more presentable (and likely loosely laid out in the Beta version of the book). Once that is complete we will move on to stage 2. 
  • Stage 2, Playtesting: Once the development of the stretch goal unlocks is finished I'll be opening up Beta access for all backers. This will be a chance for you to get your hands on the materials early and help suggest changes, catch errors and typos, and playtest the game! This Beta version will likely still be unfinished as i'd rather get the important rules out to backers while I work on wrapping up the adventures and remaining lore we unlocked. 
  • Stage 3, Manufacturing: I aim to be moving forward with manufacturing by June-July 2026 to have everything in your hands by August-September. I hope to have everything wrapped quicker than that - but with our (at the time potential) unlocked stretch goals I wanted to give myself ample time to wrap up the book, playtest, and deliver! 

I aim to stick to this timeline as tightly as possible, but if there is any slipping of dates I will update you as soon as I am aware of it.
